The Sun Stove Story – a transformation in pictures

Long forgotten about – Irvin spotted the stove tucked behind a huge tree at the back of my cabin.

This forgotten coal stove was a lucky find for Irvin and I.  We had been searching for some type of outdoor fire pit to use in our back yard for at least  a few months without much luck when we came across this stove hiding behind a gigantic tree while visiting my grandparents (Hi Gramma and Grampa!!!) on the Sunshine Coast last month.  We couldn’t be happier with our luck or the way it turned out.

A little scruffy but we saw potential! Now, to get it up the hill.

It took two trips to get all the pieces up the trail. My heart was pumping harder than I've ever felt!

Amazing difference!

After sandblasting – an amazing difference!

It was cold out while Irvin put on the paint, luckily it dried!

In all we painted 4 coats of Rustoleum High-Heat paint. Hopefully it protects it against the elements!

The finale! We're waiting for the right time to try it outside, for now, the company of the indoor fire will have to do!
