I have a plan to take photos of the garden at different times during the year so I can learn what to expect from it the same time next year.  This is the beginning of the project.

So far, I am surprised how quickly things are start to bud and bloom.  It seems like everything went from full winter-mode to spring-green-mode almost so fast you could see it happening!

Not sure what these are, but they are everywhere!

One of the past owners must have loved roses because they are all over the yard. In the last few weeks they have started to grow these lovely red leaves!

We have two Gala Apple trees in our yard. And yes, I am bragging. But I'm also offering them if you come visit in September.

This is what an apple tree in Victoria looks like up close in February. Just in case you wanted to know.

This guy won't win any prizes for being the first to bloom in the city... but I don't mind, she'll be a beauty when it happens.

Strawberries in February

No berries yet, but maybe in the summer I’ll finally get a few. I’ve had this pot for a few years and have only had one or two berries. This year it’s going to bathe in sun all summer long, mark my words!

In front of the house

Some of the first life to return to the garden this February.

Peach bud

Grapes

This dead looking vine is going to be full of luscious grapes in a few months time. It is one of the only garden plants that doesn’t seem to be waking up from hibernation just yet.

Avocado

My attempt to start an avocado tree from seed. This is 3-4 weeks in. I have high hopes, the exterior is starting to crack and the pointy end seems pointier!

Rosemary

I transplanted some branches of an insane outdoor rosemary plant to this mason jar as a small experiment. All my gardening ventures as of yet are experiments. I think it’s working – you can see the roots through the glass which is pretty cool.

Sprouting seeds

Irvin’s Mom gave me a bunch of seeds but I can’t remember which ones are which. This could be spinach, romaine, or mustard. I hope it survives until we finish our garden boxes and I can move it outside!

Tulips in February

I planted some tulips in the fall not knowing that there were already a lot of surprises waiting patiently in the soil. I can hardly wait for these green ladies start to bloom!
